Popular Destinations for Tourism
When visiting Montana, there is a wide range of possibilities for students. There are many touristic destinations that have attractions perfect for international tourists looking to study and travel in the U.S., such as Yellowstone National Park, Glacier National Park, or the Lewis & Clark Trail with all its museums. Our cities and towns also have vibrant downtowns with cafes, restaurants, and many shops.
With so many hidden gems it’s no wonder Montana is referred to as the Treasure State. Montana offers something for everyone.
- Yellowstone National Park: The park was established in 1872 as the first national park in America with its vast variety of wildlife including buffalo, wolves, coyotes, grizzly bears, elk, and mountain lions.
- Glacier National Park: Its breathtaking views of the Rocky Mountains and its abundant wildlife make it an excellent destination for hiking enthusiasts.
- Lewis & Clark Trail: This trail was named after the expedition by President Thomas Jefferson to explore what was called “The Louisiana Purchase”. Lewis chose the route, and Clark led the expedition along the Missouri and Yellowstone rivers.
- Indian Reservations: Montana is the home to 12 tribes on 8 separate reservations where you will find authentic native cultures during pow wows and annual gatherings
- Flathead Lake is known the world over for its crystal-clear water and year-round recreation opportunities (skiing, snowmobiling, fishing).
- Blackfeet Indian Reservation: This reservation is the largest in Montana and can be accessed through Browning or East Glacier, MT. It’s home to some of America’s most beautiful landscapes and offers a glimpse into the traditional way of life that was once prevalent for Native Americans who lived on this land.
- Flathead Lake is known the world over for its crystal-clear water and year-round recreation opportunities (skiing, snowmobiling, fishing).
- Yellowstone National Park: Travelers can visit this park for a day or spend weeks and not finish exploring all of its beauty. Glacier National Park: There’s no shortage of opportunities for hiking through this park with friends and classmates.
